Bavli, Hillel
(1863-1961)
   American Hebrew poet and educator of Lithuanian origin. He settled in the US in 1912 and taught modern Hebrew literature at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He was one of the first Hebrew poets to deal with the American milieu. His poems have been collected in several volumes. He translated Dicken's Oliver Twist and Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra into Hebrew.
